Who are we?
JANWebs, LLC is a new company. We are located in the heartland of America in Des Moines, Iowa. Our members formed JANWebs to make a difference in the way Web sites are designed and presented on the World Wide Web. Over the past few years the internet has taken a dramatic turn in its presentation of information. The majority of users surf the web, taking advantage of high speed internet connections. Speed has become less crippling and presentation more important. The 'old' way of designing for the web is changing at an incredible pace. Employees of JANWebs are eager to express some of their most impressive work within this medium.
With all the changes to the face of the internet, the need for standards-based web designs continues to grow. Standards-based web designs are easily read by text readers, cell phones, pda's, etc. Web sites designed with cutting-edge graphics, animations, flash, etc. are not readily viewable by these devices. People who require the use of special text reader software to compensate for their disabilities are hampered by Web sites designed with too many graphics. Web sites have historically been designed with tables, for positioning graphics and text, much the same way that magazines and newspapers lay out their publications.
Standards-based Web sites afford the best of all worlds. The graphic designer who wants to provide top-notch graphics on a web site can use standards-based design to maximize the presentation of their client's information. Layout and web structure professionals who want the flexibility of positioning their web page elements can do so easily. Programmers wanting to maximize the look and feel of functionality can do so while making better use of their time developing code.
And what's even more exciting is the ability to do all of the above and easily maintain and change a client's Web site with a minimum of time and money.
