Philosophy behind our Web Designs

JANWebs is a fairly new web design company but this does not mean we are new to the internet. Our programming team has been developing internet-aware programs for many years. We have seen the face of the internet change over and over again. We firmly believe that for the first time in its history, web designs can offer fantastic opportunities for companies and individuals to reach readers, customers, and consumers of information all around the globe!

We accept the responsibility of providing our client's information and data in ways not possible just a few years ago. We strive to develop aesthetic and functional Web sites. Just like most people surfing the World Wide Web, we enjoy the stimulating and fantastic use of high-tech wizardry prolific on Web sites today. We acknowledge that there truly is a market for such artistic expressions and offer our kudos to those wonderful designers.

Alright, enough is enough! The bottom line is people are hungry for information. More than ever before people are accessing the internet, almost daily, for one thing and one thing only. INFORMATION. Where can I find the best deal on a new coffee pot? What is the balance in my checking account? Who is the author of that great book I read last year? What are the stats on my favorite sports team?

How about business consumers. They want access to manufacturing, government regulations, shipping information, trade specific information. And they don't care about glitter and glamor. They want to access a Web site, extract the information or data they need, place an order, and leave. Active businesses making use of the internet usually don't have time to 'surf' the web.

Anatomy of our Web Design

We start with the basics. Pure XHTML. That's Extensible Hypertext Markup language, the heart of every single page found on the World Wide Web. Actually, we use nothing but STRICT XHTML. STRICT XHTML is the basis for standardized web design. It is in the XHTML that you will find one hundred percent of the information and data our client's want you to see. Where the HTML language allowed for many inconsistencies in laying out the structure and presentation of a web page, XHTML rejects them. Browsers and web designers took advantage of those early inconsistencies in order to offer impressive methods of viewing information.

But it got out of control. Numerous broswers and numerous ways of doing the same thing. Web designers wanting to utilize browser specific tools found themselves leaving many users 'out of the loop'. Almost from the beginning there have been attempts to standardize the way information and data was structured and presented on the internet. JANWebs believes it has only been in the past few years that support for standardization is strong enough and embraced by enough browser developers and web designers to offer impressive Web sites that can be viewed my the majority of users. Hopefully, the days of designing browser specific Web sites are over!

Next we make extensive use of CSS (Cascading style sheets). Through cascading style sheets, we remove all means of styling and presentation from the XHTML which providing our content and structure. This leaves the content clutter free for text-based readers, search engines, and accessibility technologies to present our client's information and data.

We use scripting such as javascrip as little as possible. We understand that use of scripting is necessary when sophisticated server-side programming and specific presentation techniques are needed. But we strive to keep this to a minimum.

We develop all special programming and database modules at the server. This keeps the overhead away from the end-user's computer. This means faster download speeds, less security concerns, and a more efficient use of accessing the internet.
